November 2004
Hi everybody....greetings from Amsterdam, Holland, where I'm putting the finishing touches on a 6 month tour. Actually I have a few more concerts and events here in Holland, then in Germany and Toronto, Canada, before I head home to Chilliwack, B.C.
I am in awe and feel of late like I've been caught up in a tale I never would have imagined...and even now, am only grasping a portion of the magnitude of it all. That's not to say I've hit the big time...but rather I'm seeing things more clearly and mythically, and how great a story God is writing with our lives. I am in awe and amazed to be part of it all....I hope you are too.
Let me pick up where I last left off...approx. Sept./04 in Romania. September was concert month for me, and I saw God touch many hearts in many places, as it seemed concert invitations were springing up everywhere. Near Cluj where a number of them where, I got close with a group from the village where I was staying and several of them were not christians yet, but kept coming out to the concerts. One young man(who was so turned off to the religious and indifferent christians he saw in some of the churches) said to me after one of my last nights in Cluj: "I want to follow the Jesus you're talking about, but not the Jesus they have". What a powerful indictment on lifeless christianity(not that there really is such a thing).
September also saw some physical action, as a small team I was with, visited Boiu again, this small village where we have worked with the impoverished gypsies. On the first nite, when a party was held for the teens to start off the year of work there, a man crashed the party and seriously injured another young man, attacking him with a pipe and putting him in the hospital. Myself and another of our team broke up this fight, and we received threats the next day. There were many lies being spread around the village about us and the work there...and we did a fair bit of spiritual warfare in those days. But the party did go on, and even got involved in a dance contest...yihhaaa!
We also saw some of the new friends in Sibiu and Cluj either coming to Christ, or coming very close to a decision for Him...so Romania was again such a memorable and wonderful time for me, and I had mixed feelings about leaving. My heart was touched so often (and deeply) by new and old friends, and what God let me be part of there.
From Romania, at Sept.'s end, I moved on to Austria with concerts in Vienna and Linz and the north, some in churches and some in pubs. At the pubs in the north, where it's very unevangelised, we had about 70 non-christians attend, and hear the gospel, probly many for the first time, and they were wonderful events.
From mid Oct. til now, I've been mostly in Germany, and just of late in Holland. God has so stirred hearts and I am so thankful. I heard reports of a young girl with eating disorder, decide to eat again after a concert, and others receiving new vision and inspiration in God.
One very memorable event was visiting and singing for my young friend, Rebecca in the hospital. I met her 3 years ago at my concert in Hamburg and she touched my heart. She got sick this year, and she died today(Nov.11/04), and now this 14 year old precious girl is with her prince. Jesus took her home this morning and I'm so thankful I got to see her to say goodbye, for now.
Well this is getting long so I better end off...it's late anyway. Let yourselves wholeheartedly join the story God is writing...what a romantic adventure. Love to you all...rob(sealion)
