August 2004
I'm sitting in an internet cafe on a late Sat. afternoon...it's a cool cloudy and damp day here in Sibiu, Romania. It's starting to feel a little like autumn here now (I like that) and I'm just about at the half way mark of this 6 month tour, which started with 3 weeks in Ontario (which was so awesome a time) and has taken me to Romania now, since July 2.
My time here (almost 2 months now) started with a recording project in Cluj. I recorded 17 songs with the help of Berni, a great young guitarist friend from Austria, and being the first experience of this kind in Romania (and outside of Canada), I made it a simple unplugged project, which I've wanted to do for a long time anyway. It well very well, and God's anointing and blessing seemed very evident to us. The studio owner seemed truly honored to have us work there with him. I plan to have it mastered back in Canada and ready by early 2005. Possibly a double album, or maybe 2 C.D.'s eventually. (entitled 'No Place Like Home').
So besides singing in the local churches, I've sang at 2 bigger christian festivals in the summer here, (Cluj and the Black Sea), and as well, in a camp(with non christians in attendance), and I've visited, sang and preached in some smaller towns and villages(like the gypsy section of Boiu, where we worked last year also).
The whole time here has been pretty full on, and now in Sept. I have a potential 4-7 concerts in different cities. I've seen some non christians really touched during my time here...and just learned that one young woman has just opened her heart to Christ now. She joined us(a group of christians here) for several functions and excursions etc. over the last month. There are 2 others who seem quite close now also.
I'm here til end of Sept., then on to Austria for 2 weeks, (pubs and church concerts), and then on to Germany/Holland and possibly France til the end of Nov.
Thanks for reading this and your prayers and interest...
God bless you all heaps....love Rob (sealion)
